Can you Feel the Love...at my Booth?

I'm hoping my booth gets a little more love this month--

January was a tough month for the ol' booth. I didn't even make enough to cover the rent.  But after the holidays, who's in the mood to buy a dresser?

Even so, I'm pretty excited about my new booth space - the carpet color is more neutral, and like I mentioned before, it's near the cash register and the front door.

I was expecting February to start slow...

...and my expectations have not failed me.  I've made $5 so far.

Those of you with booth or retail experience...do things slow down for you this time of year?
When does it typically turn around?

I printed some of the lovely free Valentine's printables I've found around blog-land to add a little love to my space.
Hopefully, they inspire someone to buy a lovely green farm table for his/her Valentine...or, perhaps a coffee table?
It may not fit in a heart-shaped box or taste like chocolate...but it's the gift that keeps on giving.  Or something like that.

I've been so busy making wreaths lately, that I haven't had much time to work on items for my booth...or, um, my blog.
And then there's my one-handed husband - who is supposed to get his stitches out today! (I'm secretly hoping he'll be able to change diapers soon!!)
I miss linking up to parties every day and seeing all the new ideas, visiting other blogs, and just blogging in general.  (I do manage to eke out a couple minutes to check out Pinterest - as I am obsessed...it's becoming a problem :)

To top all of this off - there's talk around these parts (blogland), that Google Friends Connect (the thingy on the sidebar that keeps track of followers) is being to restricted to Blogger Members only as of 3/1/12? And, eventually, it will be gone for good?  Huh?

If you're currently a follower of my blog, or would like to be (why, hello there - how you doin', hot pants?)...will you pretty please be so kind as to become a Linky Follower of my blog too?  It's over on the right side, directly above my Google Friend Connect area.  If that's not enough begging for you...all the cool kids are doing it. That should persuade you if nothing else does...just sayin'.
Please let me know so I can return the favor.

(If you need help with any of the Linky Follower stuff, please let me know, and I'll be happy to help in any way I can...it's new, but it's really easy to add to your blog.)

I am up to my eyeballs in paper flowers, so I must be off to create!!

When I have a chance, I'll try to stop by some of these parties for a cocktail little inspiration:

A Little Newsy-News to Share with You

It's been a rough week - my husband has Crohns (an auto-immune disease) and hasn't been feeling well recently.  Luckily, he starts infusions next week, and I'm praying that they help him feel better. (For some people, they relieve all of the symptoms, and for others, the infusions do nothing)  Right now, he's on tons of steroids, which makes life interesting...as he says, they make him feel "crazy."  Fun.

So, despite all that blah, I did have a couple good things happen as well.  I met with the owner of a very cute home decor shop in Columbus about selling my wreaths in her store.  She's going to carry them for the month of February to see how they do...so keeping my fingers crossed that everyone in Columbus asks for a paper wreath for Valentine's Day.  I'm actually dying coffee filters as we speak...

As if that weren't enough great news, Jen from The Cosigner Designer has been so kind as to give me the Liebster Blog Award - which added some more happiness to my week.
Liebster is German & means "dearest" or "beloved" but it can also mean "favorite."
The idea behind the Liebster award is to bring attention to blogs with less than 200 followers.

As part of receiving the Liebster Blog award, one is to:
1. Choose 5 blogs with fewer than 200 followers to grant the Liebster Blog award.
2. Show appreciation to the blogger who gave you the award by linking back to them!
3. Post the award on your blog and link back to the blogs you have given the Liebster Blog award to so everyone else can pay them a visit!
The 5 blogs I've awarded the Liebster Award to are, in no particular order:
Liz upcycles the blah furniture of the world into gorgeous creations.  She also shares her experiences about running her booth at an antique mall.
Surrounded By Pink - Mandi shares her great sewing and knitting projects that I could never do.

East Coast Mommy - Mom to 3 boys, Gina, shares useful craft, organizational, and kid-friendly projects that you can enjoy whether you're a mom or not.

The Bold Abode
The Bold Abode - Ah, Gwen...if you want to see great projects and have a little chuckle, this is the blog for you!

Thistlewood Farm - Kari's blog is beautiful, witty, and fun to read - you just have to check it out for yourself.

Congrats to these great blogs, and thanks to each of you for all of the wonderful inspiration you share with the blog world! Also, thank you again to Jen of The Cosigner Designer for sharing the Liebster Award with me.

Happy Holidays...is it time for a break yet???

Happy Holidays...whatever your holiday of choice may be.
I hope that this time amazing and magical for you and your loved ones.
Now, being the overachieving-holiday-perfectionist-down-to-the-last-detail that many bloggers and blog-readers tend to be....I bet a little chuckle might be just what you need right now? (or a strong drink, you can grab one of those too, if you'd like)

You may or may not know that I have a pug...
Meet Scarlet (named after the scarlet and gray - Ohio State Buckeyes), my first baby.

Needless to say - I love me a little pug humor. (Pugs in costume are my absolute fave!) I came across this picture, and every time I see it, it makes me laugh  funny dog pictures - Ugh. My head is POUNDING. Sweet Baby Jesus why did I drink all of that egg nog last night? Hold on a sec... Am I in a Christmas tree?
Picture from here and caption from here

HA!  See, made me laugh again!  Hope it at least made you roll your eyes or crack a smile or something?  Just a little smile?  "Am I in a Christmas tree?"  is what gets me every time.

Happy Holidays - love you gals (and I think I have one guy follower...).

Can't wait to see all of your fab pics once all the hoopla has quieted down and the wrapping paper is cleaned up!

WINNER of Salvaged Whimsy 100 Follower Giveaway!!

I haven't been around much the last couple days because I've had some mysterious illness...and I haven't really been in the mood to do any more than necessary...then I remembered I had a little giveaway that ended last night and I was supposed to announce a winner today.
I won't keep you in suspense any longer....

OOPS!  I just realized that the numbers disappeared from my number generator thingy....I promise #2 was the very first winner/result that came up, I just couldn't figure out how to make it show up (obviously!) as a picture in my post like all the fancy blogs do....

Sue from Sullivan & Murphy is the big winner of my first giveaway ever.  YAY!  for Sue.  It's kind of ironic (in a good way) that Sue won because she's a fellow Ohio blogger and has been so kind about introducing me to other local bloggers and letting me know about great sales in the area. I can't thank all of those of you who've chosen to follow my blog, Salvaged Whimsy, enough- it means more than I can say.

I apologize if this sounds a little disorganized - I seriously need a nap - apparently, babies don't care if mom is sick...they partied like rockstars until the wee hours last night.

Take care, and congrats to Sue, and I hope to be back among the living ASAP.

1st OFFICIAL Salvaged Whimsy Giveaway - 100 Followers

I'm back with the details for my very 1st giveaway in celebration of reaching 100+ followers at Salvaged Whimsy. YAY!!
I'm so thankful for each and every one of you.
I know the suspense must be killing you, so here we go...

1.  Custom Hand-Painted Sign on Reclaimed Barn Wood:

here are a couple examples of a few I've done:

...you may choose the words, color, font you'd like.

2.  A Vintage "Wayne Feeds" 100lbs Feed Bag:

3.  A Vintage "Grit" Newspaper Carrier Bag:
Isn't the font great?  Love it.  I think it would make a great pillow...but I can't sew. The one side has a small tear on the bottom.
(Opposite side of the bag) - the one edge of the bag opens so the paper carrier could grab the paper more easily.

And last...but DEFINITELY not least....you didn't think I'd leave out a coffee filter project from my very first give away???

4.  Your Choice of a Paper Wreath:

...or I can customize one to your specifications.

This giveaway is open to all of my lovely followers (so if you aren't one yet, please consider becoming one in order to be eligible for my very 1st Giveaway!).

Please comment on this post by this Saturday, Dec 3, at Midnight (EST), and I'll choose a winner at random (as long as you are a follower of Salvaged Whimsy). The winner will be announced on Sunday, Dec 4th.

Thanks again -

Almost 100 Followers & My 1st Giveaway!

As of 10:54am (EST) on 11/26/2011, I have 91 amazing followers...only need 9 more of you to join me to reach 100.

In celebration of this historical :) event, I will be hosting my first-ever giveaway once I reach 100.  Now, this won't be a typical plain old gift card giveaway...it will be a one of a kind, just for you, giveaway.  (tempted now, aren't you!)

Please consider becoming a follower of my blog so you don't miss out on this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity!

Thank you SO much to all of you who've already chosen to follow me, I can't tell you how much each of you have helped me to "wake up" and rejoin the world.  Blogging has made me a happier, better, more fulfilled person.  I love my my babies and family more than anything, but blogging has allowed me to think outside my daily life of laundry, diapers and bottle-filling. (Admittedly, it's a rut I put myself into - I'm a self-described introvert, and it's been a challenge for me to meet new people since we've moved)

Enough of that mushy, lovey-dovey stuff...but I do love all of y'all!  The pictures were just an attempt to make this post a little more interesting.

Okay..so let's get at least 9 more followers so one of you can win my giveaway in time to re-gift your prize for Christmas!
