Finally, The Farm Table

This table was featured by Sherry at The Charm of Home at her weekly Home Sweet Home Link- Up Party and by Good Luck Charlie at Redoux.  Their parties are each Friday, and if you haven't linked up before, I highly recommend them.  Thank you so much to both of these lovely ladies for featuring my husband's table...I know he'll be giddy with excitement...as soon as I explain what "being featured' means. :)

Promised a couple weeks ago, I finally have pictures of the farm table my husband built out of an old door and reclaimed barn wood....

...see the hinges in the corners...

Here it is decorated for Christmas:

We moved into our house in September, and if you've looked at the pictures of our last house, you'll see that our new home isn't really our style yet.  I've been spending all of my "free time" working on my blog and starting my business, so the house has been put on the back burner for a while.  Please use your imagination a little bit...pretty curtains, hardwood floors, paint, etc.

Our family doesn't "do" decorated tables for holidays or any days...putting raw veggies on a tray is "fancy," so I just tried some different decor ideas for fun...

We don't own a set of formal china - it would never be used...I love the look of layered dishes and chargers, but they aren't something that we'd EVER use in real life.

We live in a private lake community, and the wood is from the beach near our house.

Don't worry, I've put many coats of poly on the top to protect the future owner from consuming paint chips.
Everything but the top was made from reclaimed barn wood.

Have you decided on your Christmas table decor yet?  Does your family do a lot of decorating for Christmas?  I know we'll do a lot more once our kids are older...right now, it's just too much trouble to have items out that will certainly be chewed on, played with, climbed upon, dropped, used as a projectile...ya know?

Hope you are enjoying the holiday season.

The table came out fabulous! I love all the center pieces you did and your china.

I don't really have any formal china either. I have several pieces of stoneware that I like the look of but I always end up using my 20 year old corelle because its so light weight, which I love. I'm just ready for a newer pattern than my ivy one.

I know what you mean about HGTV Erin. I'm really hoping that the pilot that Kev and Layla from The Lettered Cottage gets picked up. Maybe that would be the start of something really good. Thanks for stopping by.

What a gorgeous piece of furniture. It has just the right amount of patina on the top, and that key hole gives it so much charm. Great repurposing job!

how did I not comment on this before now?! I'm so jealous of this table. It's pretty much exactly what I wanted, however my hubby wanted something "NEW FOR ONCE" so he picked out something "new". Hmph. Super expensive and really lacking on charm!!!
