Salvaged Whimsy - 2011 In Review

I wrote my first post on August 1, 2011, so I don't really have a whole year to review, just 5 months.  My original intention was to write about my kids more, but it seems that Salvaged Whimsy took on a mind of it's own (nothing ever listens to me around here!)

First of all - and most importantly -
Your 5 favorite posts of 2011:

And, in case you missed them--
A couple of my favorite projects:

The Farm Table made out of an old door and reclaimed barn wood:

Also...in 2011, I was hoping to reach 100 followers (I love each and every one of you, by the way!)...and I'm currently at 149--thanks to you.  I started an Etsy shop and have my own booth in a local antique store.  My family is likely planning an intervention to confront my Pinterest obsession. I've also found my way around Facebook. - finally!  But most importantly, I've met the most amazing, kind, and caring people (ahem, YOU) - and that's the most exciting thing of all.
Between getting married, renovating and selling a home & buying another, and having 2 babies ALL in less than 4 years----and then moving over an hour away--I've lost touch with most of my friends.
I'm so lucky to be able to stay home with my babies - but I'm still pretty timid about taking them both out by myself (anywhere that there's not a cart or some type of restraining device available :).   I bet you can see where I'm headed here, as I've met quite a few of you in the same situation who have found a "purpose" here in blog land.

On to 2012
If you are having a party to celebrate New Year's Eve, I'm living vicariously through you and did a fun post about party decoration ideas if you're looking for ideas.

I'll probably be in bed by 9pm, so please have a sip of champagne for me!
Looking forward to a wonderfully crafty and creative 2012!

I hope each of you had a simply stupendous Christmas (or holiday of your choice)...we thought we had a lot of toys before 12/24 - we have 3 times that many now.  That's even after donating 4 boxes.

Hope it ends soon, but in the meantime, I've been meandering through the 75,000,000 Google images that pop up when I searched for "New Years Decor" to find some sparkly, blingtastic ideas to share with those of you still recovering from last weekend.

On to New Years Eve!!!
If you're interested in finding out more about a specific picture - just click on it...see, I wrote this post so you have to exert as little energy necessary in order to throw a stylish New Years Eve Party!

Happy Holidays...is it time for a break yet???

Happy Holidays...whatever your holiday of choice may be.
I hope that this time amazing and magical for you and your loved ones.
Now, being the overachieving-holiday-perfectionist-down-to-the-last-detail that many bloggers and blog-readers tend to be....I bet a little chuckle might be just what you need right now? (or a strong drink, you can grab one of those too, if you'd like)

You may or may not know that I have a pug...
Meet Scarlet (named after the scarlet and gray - Ohio State Buckeyes), my first baby.

Needless to say - I love me a little pug humor. (Pugs in costume are my absolute fave!) I came across this picture, and every time I see it, it makes me laugh  funny dog pictures - Ugh. My head is POUNDING. Sweet Baby Jesus why did I drink all of that egg nog last night? Hold on a sec... Am I in a Christmas tree?
Picture from here and caption from here

HA!  See, made me laugh again!  Hope it at least made you roll your eyes or crack a smile or something?  Just a little smile?  "Am I in a Christmas tree?"  is what gets me every time.

Happy Holidays - love you gals (and I think I have one guy follower...).

Can't wait to see all of your fab pics once all the hoopla has quieted down and the wrapping paper is cleaned up!

take care -

A Couple of New Projects Finished

What day is it again?
When's Christmas?
Are you sure?
Really?
Oh my.

Wow, it's been one of those weeks where losing my mind seems like a total possibility!  (It could be easily be lost anywhere in my house, and it would take a good week to dig it out from the piles of toys, Christmas paraphernalia, crafting stuff, and paint cans.)

To add a little excitement to the week, I found out Monday night around 9:00pm that the farm table sold from my booth. (YAY!!!) I knew my pink dresser had sold over the weekend (YAY AGAIN), and that there would be a pretty big hole in my booth, but I thought the space would be fine until after Christmas.  When the table sold...well, that's half my booth, so I couldn't wait to fill it in.
Since none of my larger pieces have sold, I wasn't expecting this surprising wonderful news, and didn't have anything ready to take its place.

***5:00am Yesterday***
Subject #1:
I wish I had an actual "before" pictures showing the pretty pink bow stickers adhered below each of the 12 non-matching plastic knobs.

Please excuse the sippy cup - repainting 3 pieces of furniture in 10 hours with 2 clingy adorably loving toddlers can be total insanity a challenge, though I'm happy to report that no children were harmed in the making of this post.

Subject #2:

Subject #3:
Small stained wood table (forgot a picture...sorry)

***Fast-forward to 5:00pm***
Subject#1:
I didn't have 12 matching knobs, so these are from our kitchen cabinets...repainted.  We planned on replacing them....eventually.  I lined the drawers with really cute striped paper, but my camera battery died while I was taking pictures.

Subject #2:

Subject #3:
(The purple table)  You'll NEVER guess what I used on this table....coffee filters left over from making a wreath...(if you're interested, here's a tutorial I did for another rolled paper flower wreath)

I wish I had better pictures of the table, I was pretty happy with how it turned out...my husband said, "I think you've found every possible way to use coffee filters..."  Ha!  Is that a challenge!!!  I have only JUST begun..bwah hah hah!

uhhhh....Back to the booth....

It's looking a little sparse - I have a bookshelf and a couple dressers I need to work on to fill in the holes.

and I want to redo the backdrop, mine is looking really sad

"Sparse" is something I can handle when it's due to things selling!

I can't thank those of you who've offered bits of your booth-expertise to me...I'm planning on using many of your suggestions going forward.  I really, really appreciate it though....

I can't believe how much my life has changed since I started blogging in August...I can't thank those of you who visit and follow my blog enough for your kindness, support, advice, and friendship.

I wish each of you a very happy holiday season!!
