Whimsical Wednesday: GreenGate

Have you heard of GreenGate?

Relax, it's not a top-secret scandal involving the poor recycling habits of politicians...

GreenGate is a Danish company that creates and sells kitchen and home decor items.
Lovely, whimsical kitchen and home decor items.

Until last night, I'd never heard of it until I saw this pin:
POLKA.DOTS.
I love polka dots. Love.

And the mixture of the patterns.

And the colors.

I had to see more.

dishes could be fun entertaining...better than usual, with these dishtowels!

Isn't it all wonderfully whimsical?
These pictures are all from the 2 most recent GreenGate catalogs.
I originally had about twice as many pictures in this post, but thought I should leave some of the fun for you...

...it took me a while, but I finally found digital versions of their recent catalogs.

Here are a couple pictures from blogs showing how some incorporate GreenGate into their decor (click on the pictures to go to the blog - they are in Dutch)

Now, the not-so-wonderfully whimsical part of this post - although it doesn't seem to be expensive, it's not available (that I could find) in the US.  From what I've read, it's tremendously expensive to have it shipped here.  (One person said it was $150 to have a pitcher shipped.)

Thanks for stopping by for

Salvaged: Magnetic Plowing Disc

When I found a used plow disc in an old barn, my initial thought was to make it into some type of chandelier.

Then I picked it up...for those of you like me, who are unfamiliar with agricultural paraphernalia...plowing discs are very heavy - maybe not so great for a light fixture??

The discs are being pulled behind the tractor.

So, after scrubbing, and scrubbing, and scrubbing, I loved the look of the disc I found beneath the mud and grease.
I don't know what type of metal discs are made from, but I was delighted to find that it was magnetic.
So, for the magnets, I visited the Dollar Store and found a big decorative magnet for $1.00.  After tearing the paper graphic off the front of the magnet, I cut the it into small square pieces.

Then, I found some big, chunky buttons and hot glued the a magnet piece to the back of each one.
And ta-da! A virtually free, yet still interesting, magnetic message board.

This one is for sale in my booth, so it's not hanging up, but if I were to hang it in my house, I'd just hang it from one of the bolt holes.

Whimsical Wednesday: Hot Pink Glitter Elephant

Hope you had a lovely weekend.

We were able to get our house into some sense of order (though the piano is STILL in the foyer) for Bryan's party on Saturday...but that didn't seem to stop anyone from having fun. We were outside most of the time anyway.

The cold I've had for over a week seems to be getting worse....I never get sick, and for it to last this long is a first.  That being said, I'm lacking motivation and inspiration today.

So, Welcome to Whimsical Wednesday -

I came across this hot pink glitter elephant on Etsy a couple weeks ago and was completely delighted by the whimsy of it...

and then there's this guy...

Glitter + Fun Colors + Cute Animals = WIN

These fanciful creations are made by Wish Daisy.  There are a whole array of colorful confections in her shop to suit many styles.

(As you may have guessed, I was in no way compensated for this post, I just thought this was something that might make you smile)

Pastel Spring Wreath

A couple weeks ago, I took a little break from my big wedding order (which is FINALLY done, yay!!) to make something a little more colorful...using some of the pretty coffee filters I dyed when I made my tutorial a couple weeks ago.

Here's my tutorial on how to make rolled paper flowers

Here's another tutorial I created showing how I make wreaths from rolled paper flowers.

Had to share this one of it sitting on my beautiful, new floors.  The HIDEOUS blue carpet is almost GONE. (Except for the bedrooms....but we won't talk about that right now)

I had this listed on my Etsy shop, but it sold last week...

I have another order for the shop I work with, but I hope to have some other spring-inspired wreaths available within a couple weeks.

Whimsical Wednesday: DIY Floral Pom Pom Vines

Weddings are a great source for DIY decor ideas...so I do my fair share of wedding-related blog surfing.  It's hard work, but ya know, I'm willing to make sacrifices for a good (thrifty) DIY idea.

When I came across this DIY Wedding Pom Pom Vines tutorial from Once Wed, I knew immediately that it would be my next Whimsical Wednesday Idea...

With endless color possibilities, this would make a beautiful addition to a nursery or little girl's (or boy's) room.  I think it would also be pretty on a mantel or shelf for spring and Easter.
It could even be used for retail displays to add a little whimsy.

I made these pom poms for my sister's wedding, and they are very easy...though it took me a couple tries to get them to look the way I wanted them (so don't despair if the first few aren't picture-perfect).

Once Wed offers a beautiful tutorial filled with lots of pictures.

I'm hoping to be able to start trying out my Whimsical Wednesday inspiration ideas, so I can share my experiences with you...but it's been pretty crazy around here lately.

If you make one of these little lovelies, I'd be thrilled to see your finished project!

Have you been inspired by any wedding or party-related ideas lately?
